I’m a big fan of Amazon. The reason is simple, they have every product under the sun on that thing. They also seem to be coming up with new and funky stuff all the time. But I don’t really care too much about that. What I do care about is it’s the place I went to find the best double jogging stroller.

Best Double Jogging Stroller – Based On Reviews

I base everything I buy on other peoples opinions! That is to say that I strongly consider their opinions when I buy something, and I do this via product revies on blogs (like this one!) and on Amazon reviews. For example, the best selling double jogging stroller is the Scwhinn Turismo. That means something to me. If thousands of people have purchased this item and some of those people have bothered to actually write down what they think about it, then that tells me they have a certain passion for the product, either positive or negative, that can be trusted.

Best Double Jogging Stroller – Based On Popularity

Being popular is nice, but it’s not always the important thing according to my mother. She was right about me, but wrong about strollers. The best sellers are typically also the best value for money. That equation has held up everytime I have purchased something. The best is almost always the most expensive and the best SELLER is almost always the best value for the money, with few exceptions. So when it comes to a the best double jogging stroller, this is also true. The Schwinn Turismo Double Jogging Stroller in my opinion has actually achieved both every nicely. It’s a couple of hundred bucks and is feature rich.

So after following my own advice when looking for a double jogging stroller, I came across the Schwinn Double Jogger. I had never actually heard of the Schwinn company before, but they make all kinds of bikes and fitness equipment. And they have been around for a long time and are generally known for making good product. This little stroller has a lot of really cool features:

  • iPod Speaker – The thing has and iPod speaker built in. If you don’t like headphones but like music on your runs, you are all set.
  • HandleBar Swivel Switch – The have added a switch on the handlebar to let you lock the front wheel in place when you are on the run. Going down a steep hill? Flip the switch
  • Small Article Storage – Schwinn has added a little caddy to let you store your keys and small stuff while you are running
  • Easy Folding – Jogging strollers, especially doubles, are big so its important that they are easy to fold, and this one is. It comes apart pretty easily also.

Best Double Jogging Stroller

The Schwinn Turismo is the best double jogging stroller in my opinion. It has tons of great features, the price is right and the it’s stylish also. You can get it in a couple of different colours. It’s a first rate double jogging stroller.

As Light As Possible

One of the reasons I find this to be the best double jogging stroller is the weight. Not don’t get me wrong, it’s still heavy. But it’s as light as possible due to the fact that they craft it out of aluminum. That’s usually about the best thing you can use to keep something light yet strong.

Lots Of Features

The Schwinn has lots of cool little features that show the engineers pay a lot of attention to the details of building strollers. These features are just things for joggers but for anyone that might actually want to use the stroller for everyday use also.

  • Swiveling Canopy – You might be wondering why this would be important that the canopies can move through a wide range of motion. When you are facing a headwind or picking up speed down a hill, the canopy’s can serve as a windscreen for the kids. It’s very effective.
  • MP3 Player Speaking – This is a great feature. The thing has an on board speaker for the kids, or for you. I don’t personally like wearing a headset, but like to have music when I run. This solves that problem.
  • Push Button Locking Front Wheel – A clever feature. You can lock and unlock that front wheel from the handlebar. You can let is swivel on smooth terrain, but going downhill or on rough road, you might want to lock it. You can do it without stopping
  • Folds Up Very Well – This is an important feature because the thing is big and somewhat heavy. But if you take the wheels off and fold it up, it is compact enough to fit in the trunk of a car. Don’t expect to get much else in if you car is smaller
  • Key Caddy – Another nice feature that makes this the best double jogging stroller is the key caddy. Yes, the key caddy. Think about it, where do you stick your keys or id when you are jogging?
  • Great Value – This stroller really does provide great value. It’s well priced, has lot of features, more than I have stated here, and is built to last.

Complaints?

Is This The Best Double Jogging Stroller?

The Schwinn Turismo Double Jogging Stroller is the best one that I have been able to to find. And I have tested more than one of them. I have looked at Phil and Teds, InStep and few others. They all have their positives and negatives to be sure, but by my list of priorities the Schwinn wins out hands down.

Kids Are First Class

One of the nicest things about the Schwinn Turismo Double Jogging Stroller is that the kids are treated like the first class citizens that they are. For example, the cupholders and tray that are in front of the kids are made from molded plastic, but are individualized to each child. The molded tray and cupholder also molds around them for safety and containment so it only makes sense to put it there. It makes them feel like big kids to have their own seperate space.

MP3 Speakers

Another great feature for the kiddies is the MP3 speaker thats built in. This lets you connect your MP3 player to the stroller and pipe Barney or whatever down to the kids to keep them strolling while being entertained. My kids love this feature because it makes the jogs and strolls fly by when they can sing along – which they do!

Suspension System

This double jogger has a great suspension system beneath it. This means the kids don’t feel every jaring bump and rock. This doesn’t matter when you are at the mall, but if they are riding with me, while I’m pushing them down a nature trail at a decent speed, it very much does matter. Do you see what I mean by first class? This is the kind of detail that Schwinn includes for the kids and I love it. It also makes it somewhat easier to curb hop and maintain control on some of the less than smooth trails out there.

3 Position Five Point Harness

One of the things that my kids complain about or make noise about is the seatbelts they have to put on. While no seat belt is likely to make your children happy, this one is adjustable with three different positions. This ensures maximum safety for your kids and maximum comfort. It also means you get a lot of life out of your stroller because your kids can wear them up until they are 45 pounds. My kids get pretty big by the time they are hitting 40 pounds.

Reclining 18 Inch Seats


My little ones fall asleep in the stroller and they like to recline and be in comfort. Schwinn makes it straightforward to simply recline the seats with a strap and let the little ones go off to sleep. I use this a lot. I often have to stop once I’ve noticed one or both are asleep, but thats no big deal usually. If I’m fairly certain they will sleep, I just recline it from the start, easy enough to do. The other great thing is that the seats are a decent size. Again, as your kids age and get a bit bigger, they will probably come out with your jogging even if they don’t use a stroller any other time. With a good size seat they can do that.

Of Course, It’s Heavy

The down side is that it is a double jogging stroller made of metal. It’s going to be heavy as with all double strollers, that’s just the way it is. This one is no different, it’s almost 40 pounds. You can take it apart to get it in the car which makes it considerably easier to deal with in that respect.

It’s Built For Life


If you have two kids or are about to have two kids and you want to get out and jog, the Schwinn Double Jogging Strollers is definitely a great choice for you. This thing is built for all aspects of your life where you want to have your kids involved. This includes your exercise routine, your trips to the mall and everything in between. Schwinn has put lots of thought into the details, the Schwinn Double Jogging Stroller isn’t just a souped up grocery cart like most other so called jogging strollers

Strong And Sturdy

The Schwinn is built to stand up to all of the things we do in our everyday lives. I can’t speak for anyone else, but personally sometimes, my strollers don’t get the kindest treatment. I certainly don’t intend to mistreat my equipment but the truth is sometimes the strollers get tossed unceremoniously into the trunk of the van and the end of a long shopping trip. Sometimes when I’m done jogging and have packed the kids in the car, the last thing on my mind is being careful with anything except them. On occasion, after a trips to the park or playground, the stroller has been left out on the front step in the rain, even snow.

So it’s important that any stroller that I buy be able to take the abuse. The fabric has to be strong, the chassis has to be tough and the wheels have to bounce over things that the designers perhaps did not intend. The Schwinn take can this kind of abuse and come back for more. The wheels are spoked and make from metal. The tires are air filled (pneumatic) so provide for a smooth as possible ride.

World Class CupHolders


I don’t know about you, but I love my coffee and drinks. This cupholder, is awesome. It grips your water or coffee put it also rotates to bring it to the correct angle to suit you. I really like that thing. It’s seperate from the main grip so that each can be adjust independently. And while we are talking about cupholders, Schwinn also treats the kids like first class citizens. Each child has their own seperate cupholder and tray and they are presented in from of them also as a safety feature. It’s down well and designed correctly.

Big Canopys


The canopys are huge on this thing and they go all the way down. Why is this a big deal? Because it keeps your kids out of the sun. Sunscreen is fine and works, but its best to keep them out of the sun in the first place, especially when they are infants. Our pediatrician tells me not to put sunscreen on them before 6 months old anyway.

Great Warranty

Schwinn covers this thing for 5 years. That tells me that they don’t expect to have very many problems with it in that time frame, which speaks to good design and manufacture. It lets you buy with confidence and thats important to me. You can find out more about jogging strollers right here.

Schwinn Turismo Swivel Double Jogger Is The Best Double Jogger

The Schwinn Turismo Swivel Double Jogger is just about the best double jogger that I have come across. If you are looking for a good reason to get out and run, the consider taking your kids with you with this stroller. You can load them in this thing and they will travel in style and comfort. Sounds pretty good right? The best thing is you can also use this stroller as an everyday double stroller.

Minimize Space

It folds down so that is will definitely fit in the trunk of your car. That’s important to me because even though I have a minivan, it always seems to be loaded to the gunnels with stuff, whether it’s grocery or kids stuff or whatever the case may be. And when I go out jogging, I often pack up and go to one of my favourite old rail trails across town, so easy of transition in and out of the car is a big deal for me.

Cool Features

This double stroller has a lot of nifty features for example:

  • 12 inch front tire, 16 inch rear tires – maximum comfort and rock hopping
  • Aluminum Frame – light but strong
  • MP3 Speakers for the kids – connect to iPod or MP3 player to keep them happy
  • Remote Front Wheel Lock – imagine that, putting the wheel lock up on the handlebars!
  • Pivoting Drink Holder And Parent Tray – I don’t go far without my coffee and this is great coffee holder

Wheel Swivel Lock


Schwinn puts a lot of thought into their products which is a big reason I’m a fan. For example this unit has a swivel front wheel to make it easy to push around corners and doorways in malls and things. It’s fairly wide, so it’s important that that front wheel swivel somewhat. However, when you are out jogging with it and moving at a decent speed over less than even terrain, the last thing you want is that wheel flipping around up there potentially snagging something. But the neat thing is they actually give you a remote handle for it up on the handlebars! So you can flip it on and off as you see fit with little effort.

Reclining Seats

I don’t know about your kids, but mine inevitably fall asleep at least for a little while when we are out on the trails. In fact this is one of reasons I take them out in the double stroller is to actually let them have a quick nap and give Mom a break (yes, I try to be a good husband!). So it’s important that the seats recline nicely but remain secure and these certainly do both without any problem. They are reasonably easy to configure as well with the straps.

Good Size Seats

This unit is built for real children. We all knows kids come in various shapes and sizes and rarely do our children stay small for long. The Schwinn Turismo Swivel Double Jogger has seats that are 17 to 18 inches high. They are built for real kids and also this means as your kids get a bit bigger the stroller is still useful. It can certainly handle the weight of your children so why not continue to use it as they get a bit bigger? The Schwinn Turismo makes it possible.

It’s Big But Not Too Big


As with all doubles the Schwinn Turismo is large and weighs in at about 39 pounds. But this is just life with double jogging strollers. A good aluminum frame, while light, is still metal and to be strong is going to weight a little bit. But since you can take it apart fairly easily, it’s not really a big deal. What I Love About the Schwinn Turismo Swivel Double Jogger

There’s a lot of joggers out there, people like me, pounding the pavement, trying to stay fit and healthy, and keeping off the 40 year old plus midsection expansion. I have little kids and I like to jog, so this gives me the perfect excuse to go out and buy a cool piece of equipment, in this case the Schwinn Turismo Swivel Double Jogger.
 

Research Is Important

I didn’t just go out and buy, I, probably like you, did some research first. I looked up double baby strollers for jogging on the internet, but I also had the opportunity to try a few. As is turns out, online reviews are pretty good. You can always tell the difference between a real parent like yourself speaking and some kind of sales pitch, it’s not hard to spot.
 

My Double Jogger, The Schwinn Turismo


I love this thing, and there is lots to like about it. I think Schwinn makes the best double jogger for the money. The best DOUBLE jogger, I don’t have a Schwinn Single ( I have a Jeep Overlander jogger but thats a different story…). In any case, I will tell you the main touch points that led me to this unit:

  • My Mate – My wife obviously has a lot of influence on the equipment that we buy to share. In this case, she is fitter than me, even uses it more than me, so her input is key. It fits her. She can detach the wheels, fold it up and throw it in the van when she needs to.
  • Music And Gadgets – Anything that I buy must have the appropriate gadgets. In this case, I like the kids to be entertained and the Schwinn has a built in speaker and an easy way to connect your MP3 or iPod or whatever.
  • Remote Front Wheel Swivel Lock – By far the coolest feature. You don’t have bend down and fiddle with the front wheel and distract your kids when you’re ready to start running. Just flip the lock on the handlebar and start jogging
  • Great Canopys – Those canopys are very important for keeping the kiddies comfortable, out of the wind and sun and just generally happy. The Schwinn Double Strollers canopys are large and can be folded down in front of the kids to keep the wind off.
  • Great Brakes – Don’t underestimate how important this is. Your double is a big heavy machine with precious cargo on board. When you come home after a long hot jog and you want to kick the brake on and make sure the unit doesn’t move while you catch your breath, then it’s important to have easy to use brakes.

Get Out And Run!


If you love to run or need to get fit, it’s hard to beat jogging. I mean it’s just about the most brutable cardio exercise in my opinion and very effective at burning the bulge. There is another thing to consider too. You are teaching your kids the value of exercise and being health everytime you bend down to tie those laces and strap them in your jogger. What’s The Best Double Jogging Stroller?

There’s quite a few double jogging strollers on the market these days. I’ve tested, borrowed or rented more than a few. I also have a lot of friends in the same general age range with their kids so I’ve had the opportunity, fortunately, to get some experience with an awful lot of them. I enjoy machines with wheels, strollers fit right in.

Something About Wheels

I just get a kick out of anything that rolls on wheels or fly’s and strollers are no different. I don’t know, maybe it’s a sickness, but I get a kick out of this stuff. So when I got a chance to buy strollers for our newborn and subsequent two kids, I went a little overboard. I own too many strollers.

Two Small Kids Means A Great Double Jogging Stroller

When we had our second child we needed to go out and purchase doubles of everything including strollers and jogging strollers. This privilege is ordinarily reserved for couples with twins, but in our case our kids where about sixteen months apart so our oldest was still essentially a baby. In any case, I know longer had one to jog with but two! And that’s fine with me, but now I need a double jogging stroller and I like to buy the best double jogging baby strollers but not pay the highest price.

Enter The Schwinn Turismo Swivel Double Jogger

I’m sorry to say, this was not my first purchase. But I was so upset with the double I had, that I took it back (sent it back, I buy almost everything on Amazon.com…). But then I found the Schwinn Turismo. I can’t say enough about this thing. the coolest feature of this double jogging stroller is a little gadget they added to lock the front wheel – from the handlebar! No more bending down and fiddling when you want to get jogging. Some of the other great stuff:

  • Rubber Handle And Adjustable – It’s very important to have a decent grip that doesn’t fatigue your hands and that you can adjust for you and your mate.
  • 3 Position Adjustable Belt Positions – This was very important to me because I had a newborn and a 16 month old, so obviously they different belt positions.
  • Adjustable Seat Recline – Again sometimes one child be would asleep in recline, while the other would sit up and be wide awake. This still happens with my 2 and 4 year old
  • Built In Speakers For The Kids – If they kids aren’t sleeping, I don’t want them yelling at me either. The MP3 player connected to those super cool on board speakers rockin’ the Barney tunes seems to do the trick!
  • Easy Wheel Removable – Double joggers tend to be brutish, so it’s best if you can take it apart and fold it up. Getting the wheels off easily is key.

    Foldable Aluminum Chassis

    The Schwinn Double Jogger, like most double strollers is not light. It can’t be, it has to be able to bounce and bump over stuff while protecting precious cargo. However, until they make one out of Titanium, and that I could afford, Aluminum will have to do. It weighs in at around 40 pounds, but once you take it apart, it’s easier to deal with. If you pull off all three wheels (easy) and fold it down, you can actually store it in your car without too much problem. It’s an all around great stroller.
